What is Sewage Sudge Treatment? Slideshow Illustrates the Dirty Subject...

Sewage Sludge Treatment - What Utility Companies Do To Get Rid Of Huge Amounts of the Sludge Collected During Sewage Treatment

Sewage sludge treatment describes the processes used to manage and dispose of sewage sludge produced during sewage treatment.

Sludge is mostly water with lesser amounts of solid material removed from liquid sewage. Primary sludge includes settle-able solids removed during primary treatment in primary clarifiers.

Secondary sludge separated in secondary clarifiers includes treated sewage sludge from secondary treatment bioreactors.

Sludge treatment is focused on reducing sludge weight and volume to reduce disposal costs, and on reducing potential health risks of disposal options.

Water removal is the primary means of weight and volume reduction, while pathogen destruction is frequently accomplished through heating during thermophilic digestion, composting, or incineration.

We have also written an article on how the UK leads the way globally in sludge digestion technology. And in particular, how one advanced sludge AD Plant in Scotland has been further improved through a retrofit of the Landia GasMix tank mixing system.

The CCC Net Zero Report 2050 and Climate Change Urgency

Anaerobic Digestion News: CCC Net Zero Report - The United Kingdom Anaerobic...: ADBA Press Release: United Kingdom AD Industry Responds to CCC Net Zero Report Responding to the publication of the Committee on Climate Change.

Here's a positive message for once about a positive way to reduce climate change.

Is Climate Change Really Happening?

Just in the past six months, the US Midwest has experienced record-setting cold, snow and flooding. Shifting growing seasons, heavy rainfall and temperature variability are challenging farmers' production and profitability.

With this year's floods causing $2 billion in damage to Iowa farmers alone, climate change landed a significant blow to the U.S. economy, which exported more than $116.2 billion in agricultural products in 2018.

And by mid-century, maximum temperatures are projected to exceed noticeably optimal conditions for many crops, approaching temperatures that may cause reproductive failure in crops like corn. via asvegassun.com

The Young Have Not Been Slow to Realize That It's Them That Will Be Affected Most by Runaway Global Warming

Members of Vermont’s Youth Lobby have been calling on lawmakers since the first day of the session to enact sweeping climate change legislation this year.

"We’re all standing behind each other and nothing, nothing can discourage us from saving our futures from this climate crisis that we were handed," said Sage Lawlor, of Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester. "This generation is driven and we aren’t letting up." via vtdigger.org

While the growing demand for minerals and metals provides economic opportunities for resource-rich developing countries and private sector entities alike, significant challenges will likely emerge if the climate-driven clean energy transition is not managed responsibly and sustainably. via www.worldbank.org

Climate Change: "an urgent threat to our health, our economy, and our national security"

"Climate change is an urgent threat to our health, our economy, and our national security. It is long past time for bold action to move the United States to 100% clean energy. The best science tells us that by 2050 we must stop polluting the climate – that is, adding no more emissions than we can remove. via www.edf.org

Therefore, we should all be doing our bit to encourage all actions which are cost-effective in reducing climate change and we believe Anaerobic Digestion is one such technology.
